About My Ministry
More than twenty years of pastoral ministry, including thirteen years as lead pastor of a diverse church community in Colorado, shapes everything I do, including the academic work. I don’t study the New Testament as a disinterested observer. I study it because I know what it costs to help people inhabit Scripture’s world and live faithfully out of it.
My preaching is expository and biblically grounded, but I preach to actual people with actual lives, not to prove points. I take the text’s historical and literary context seriously, and I take my congregation seriously enough to bring them into that conversation rather than simplifying it away. The result is preaching that aims to be intellectually honest, pastorally warm, and theologically substantive.
